Charitable Activities

Dear Friend of Courage for Freedom:

<<First Name>>, I am pleased to bring greetings and update you about charitable activities and work happening through Courage for Freedom. We also send you news from our National Task Force about the #ProjectMapleLeaf movement and the #EradicateChallenge, along with important current news to report in anti-human trafficking work. We also celebrate others who work across this country who want to end the buying and selling of girls, and boys in Canada.

Today we thought it is high time to express our thanks for your continued support, partnership and cheers for the tireless work we continue to do.

This past month we were instrumental in the extraction and support of
four individuals. We found and provided safe space, shelter, drives, food, clothing and care. So much good news!

The level of gratitude and resilience we are privileged to witness from deserving victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation never ceases to amaze me. All we do happens because of financial supporters and partners in the cause of care.

Our barn has been busy with three new minor-aged girls from across the province accessing half-day trauma relief sessions. (Along with those we are already providing support to.) Police, Children’s Services, Boards of Education and Youth Opportunities Unlimited are working with us to provide the drives to our barns and more. It is this starting point of kind collaboration in their journey that allows a young survivor time with an animal trained to “hold space” for them physically and emotionally that is welcomed newfound safety. This is an integral part of their self re-discovery as they learn self-empowerment and self-care.

Like you, we have run into some twists and turns during this pandemic. One that has brought some concern is a large and unexpected vet bill for a care partner named Ashcroft in our Horses that Heal program. Good news? He is on the mend and offering support once again.

So before our Christmas appeal, we need to look after all the things that keep the “wheels on our charitable wagon” to reach girls, their families and communities. Front line work, residential and court support, awareness and education and advocacy are all part and parcel to our days and work ahead.

Help drive home the great work we are doing and call or write to us to find out more ways to help be part of this team.

Here is a quote from a young woman recently supported to leave a human trafficking situation 30 days ago.

“Until you came and helped me find safety, I didn’t know I was being trafficked. I still don’t really know what has happened, but today in the barn I am not afraid.”

For all those that can give for extra girls, extra care needs and extra food, travel and resources, thank you in advance for ensuring we can just keep giving and giving and giving.

We celebrate all who stand with us, who give, who write, who echo our demand for change and care! Regardless of how and what you do to support us, you are on the journey inspiring us ahead.

For the sake of those that are grateful for your generosity without even knowing you, for the sake of families whose lives have been mercilessly altered by the crime of human trafficking ~ thank you.

You know the funds we raise continue to be used to help bring health and hope to restore the life of a deserving girl. Please share this email with your networks and ensure we are available and ready when needed!

Personal Gratitude,

Kelly
